Bigfoot gets cross – we want you!

On 3rd January 2016 Bigfoot Go-Ride is hosting round 12 of the London Cyclocross League – The Bigfoot Badlands! – and we need your help!

Bigfoot has big boots to fill as our round replaces the traditional new year event at Foots Cray Meadows. This was one of the oldest and most popular races in the UK cross calendar until rising costs from Bexley Council meant Gemini Bicycle Club could no longer afford to run it.

Bigfoot’s event will be held at Cyclopark East, an area affectionately known as ‘the badlands’ next to the Cyclopark in Gravesend. This brand new course has been designed by our very own Phil Shemmings and Stephen Peate. Weaving through the trees then up onto the ridge, our course pays tribute to Foots Cray, but we’ve given it a new spin with singletrack, technical challenges and a spectator-friendly layout.

We need volunteers to help us do everything… from building the course to manning the sign in desk, calling numbers, making tea, selling cake and ringing cowbells. Please let us know if you can help by emailing

We also want as many people from Bigfoot to take part as possible. There are categories for all ages from U10s right up to Veteran 50+. Mountain bikes are equally as welcome as cross bikes and there will be prizes for the best placed Bigfoot riders so you have no excuse not to join in.

To enter you will need to join LCCA using riderhq and follow the instructions at – this only costs £3.50 if you join after 1st December and select Bigfoot CC as your club. You then need enter the race for your age category. For adults this costs £15 in advance using riderhq or £18 if you pay on the day. (Kids are cheaper and can pay on the day.) This may seem expensive but consider that a good proportion of the money goes back to Bigfoot Go-Ride, for organising the event, once prizes have been payed and British Cycling/LCCA have take their cut.
