Bigfoot Youth activities and Coronavirus (COVID-19)

posted 13 Mar 2020, 08:47 by Phil Shemmings
We are writing to keep you informed about Bigfoot Youth activities in the light of the Coronavirus (COVID-19) outbreak.

At the present time, whilst schools remain open, and following the guidance given to us by British Cycling and the government, all sessions will go ahead as usual. We are reviewing the situation regularly and if the official advice changes we will update users via our social media channels.

British Cycling's current position is that being fit and healthy is an important deterrent to the risk of any infection. They state: "As long as you follow all the relevant advice on how to avoid catching or spreading the virus, we would still encourage you to look after your health by getting active and getting out on a bike."

However, to help prevent the spread of COVID-19, please do not attend any Bigfoot Youth activities if:

  • Your child or anyone in your household has recently travelled from one of the zones with widespread cases of the virus.
  • Your child or anyone in your household is feeling unwell in any way, having breathing problems or has a fever.

If your child or anyone in your household has a new, continuous cough or high temperature the latest government advice is to self-isolate for seven days.

While taking part in our activities please ask your child to:

  • avoid close contact with other people (shaking hands, etc.)
  • wash their hands with soap and water if they use the toilet
  • only touch their own bike
  • dispose of used tissues in waste bins straight away
  • cover their mouth and nose with a tissue or their sleeve if they cough or sneeze.
