Because of an event at Hayes School we're unable to use the school on Saturday 30 March. Instead we've obtained permission to hold our coaching sessions in Beckenham Place Park. The park offers some great riding terrain, including a network of off road paths, and some decent hills. It's a great chance to work on some skills that we can't practice at Hayes.

There will be two sessions: one for MINIs and one for Junior and Youth riders.

MINI session

This session will run from 9.00 to 10.00 and will be led by Spencer. Meeting point details below.

Junior and Youth session

The session will run from 10.00 to 12.00. This session is open to all club riders except MINIs.

Meeting point:
  • Park entrance gates at the end of Westgate Road, BR3 5DE (on the corner just past St Mary’s Primary School)
  • Meet for 10am (riding off at 10:10) returning for collection at 12 noon.

Required equipment:
  • Bicycle suitable for off-road riding e.g. mountain or cyclocross bike (not a road bike with skinny tyres)
  • Helmet and clothing appropriate for weather and muddy conditions
  • Inner tube/s in case of puncture and parents' contact details in case of emergency.

Session overview:
  • Ride around marked route (download map below) in small groups.
  • Suitable for all sections of the club as we will split into groups based on ability.
  • Several skills zones marked on map for short coaching sessions to punctuate ride.
  • Parents welcome to join in providing they wear a helmet and have appropriate clothing/equipment.

All riders to:
  • Behave respectfully towards other park users
  • Be alert to hazards, particularly dogs off leads
  • Communicate clearly with others in your group
  • Tell ride leaders about any problems.

Other information:
  • Toilets available near Manor House (see map) but should only be used if absolutely necessary.
  • Various areas out of bounds which are marked on map.
