MTB coaching day at Bedgebury - 17 October

posted 30 Sept 2015, 08:39 by Bigfoot Go-Ride
We have a fantastic opportunity for Bigfoot Youth members - a FREE mountain bike coaching day at Bedgebury, on Saturday 17 October. Bedgebury Forest Cycling Club have generously offered to provide two of their experienced mountain bike coaches free of charge, and they'll be helped by some of our own coaches, led by Mike Young.

A coaching session will be delivered in the morning and then after lunch we'll ride into the forest and try out new skills.

We'll meet 9.30am for a 10am start, and the finish will be around 3.30pm to 4pm, subject to how riders are getting on.

Some important things to note

  1. Ensure kids are prepared for a full day of riding - drink, snacks, appropriate clothing, spare inner tube and a bike in proper working order.
  2. Mountain bikes are preferred (bike hire available on site) and although cyclocross bikes are OK they're not really recommended for this activity.
  3. You can either bring a packed lunch, or enough money to buy lunch at the cafe.

How to register

All riders need to register in advance, by completing our online form. Please complete the form by Friday 9th October. If you do not complete the form you will not be able to take part.

All riders must also complete a parental consent form (you can download and print this out below in Word and PDF formats). You can give your completed form to Mike in advance, or bring it along on the day. If you don't provide a completed parental consent form you will not be able to take part.

Practical stuff

Although there is no charge for the coaching day, note that parking costs £10 per car at Bedgebury. For more info visit the Bedgebury website.

There may be spare capacity in some cars. If you need transport let us know and we'll see what we can do.

Parents are welcome to come along and should be able to join the afternoon ride. Parents may be able to participate in the morning session (depending on numbers), otherwise you can spectate or just enjoy Bedgebury.
